“Michaela is an amazing trainer, not only for the dog but also for the humans involved! ... We have done both indoor and outdoor training in many different scenarios and she has always had a useful and effective way of addressing the situation. Highly recommend her to anyone.” -Ana N.
Balancing the Needs of People & Dogs
Our dogs’ natural inclinations are to bark, chew, chase, mate, hunt and bite. We want them to tolerate leashed walks, workdays, toddlers, mail delivery and veterinary exams.
Our training services help address everyone’s needs with clear, realistic guidance for a healthy life together.

We’ve found that clients are able to discuss their goals, concerns and questions with fewer household and dog behavior distractions if our first meeting happens on Zoom. This allows future, in-person lessons to proceed most efficiently and productively.
-
For 5 and 10-lesson packages, lessons are at least once/week. If you have questions between lessons, you can email our Trainer and expect a response within 48 hours Mon-Fri.
-
Anyone who can be involved in a productive way is welcome! Our trainer enjoys working with family members of all ages, house-mates, friends, dog walkers, etc! One, primary handler will work with a dog during each training lesson, but others are welcome to attend. Additional pets are welcome, as long as they will not present too much distraction or compromise the safety of any people or animals.

We believe all dog training should consider natural dog behavior, individual personality, and the influences of environment and relationships. Our training plans and techniques are guided by Dr. Susan Friedman’s Humane Hierarchy, which emphasizes approaches that are as comprehensive and minimize invasive or aversive techniques.
In practice, this means that training might include any (or more) of the following
lots of treats, toys or play to reinforce desirable behaviors,
canine enrichment, exercise and play,
environmental or equipment changes,
understanding and responding differently to canine body language and behavior
working with your veterinarian to treat relevant medical issues.

Any honest dog trainer will tell you that teaching new skills is just one part of dog training. Those skills also need to be refined and maintained on a consistent basis. We help you and your dog learn new things, and also instruct you in how to continue improving and maintaining those skills.
